Literature in sips: let’s read short stories

A bit of fantasy: imagine comparing a long novel and a short story as if we were restaurant owners. A novel is like a five-course feast, but a story is like a glass of good wine or a cup of delicious coffee, maybe even rare tea. Agree — these drinks can change our mood in fifteen minutes, warm us up or make us think about something, decide something. So is the short story — concentrated pleasure.

On April 22, we will organize the meeting “Literature as sips”. Let’s “taste” small prose, where a whole universe fits into a few pages of text.

There is no need to prepare for this meeting. We offer a “clean sheet” format:

let’s take one subject and try it two ways. First a “vintage” sip of a classic that has stood the test of time. Then a stimulating sip from today — bold and relevant.

Let’s get acquainted with the stories on the spot. We read aloud, listening to the rhythm of the prose and taking breaks where we want to hold our breath.

We discuss what we read based on the most recent impressions. No prepared thoughts — only those feelings and ideas that arise at the moment of “sip”.

This format is for those who long to read but aren’t ready to take on the big family sagas right now. Come for inspiration, new names and lively interaction. You’ll be surprised how powerful and warming literature can be in small doses.
