Cancer Treatment Fund’s Gifted Life benefit evening

The Hille Tänavsuu Cancer Foundation Kingitud Elu is a privately-initiated cancer treatment support fund whose mission is to help cancer patients whose medicines are not reimbursed by the National Health Insurance Fund. Cancer is no longer a disease that only affects individual people, but spreads widely regardless of a person’s age, gender or healthy lifestyle. By doing good together, we give cancer patients more precious days of life.

In cooperation with the students and teachers of Maidla School, the cancer treatment fund “Kingitud Elu” will host a charity benefit evening, where the support collected from the sales of the cafe and the fair will be directed to the fund to help extend someone’s life and give hope.

At 6:30 p.m., the presentation of Toivo Tänavsuu’s book “A doctor’s diary. How a dinosaur learned to be a doctor and survived” will take place, where the author will introduce his work, tell the story of its birth and share his personal thoughts. Visitors have the opportunity to chat with the author, ask questions and purchase the book.

At 7:30 p.m., we will watch the documentary “Good People”, a heartfelt and life-like portrait of people who face a serious illness, as well as those who help on a daily basis: donors, volunteers, collectors. In the film, patients and their loved ones talk honestly about their fears, dreams and struggle for life. At the same time, we get an idea of the scope of the fund, the collected donations and how a voluntary movement has grown into a part of the Estonian healthcare system in ten years. After the film, a free discussion on relevant topics will continue.

A donation box will also be open on the benefit evening, where anyone who wishes can make a contribution according to their conscience to purchase necessary medicines for cancer patients.
