Children’s show “Northern Frog” (in Russian)
Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald
The Russian Theater continues to introduce children to cultural diversity, bringing the young audience closer to the traditions, music and customs of the different peoples of the world.
„Põhja konn“ on üks Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald i tuntumaid lugusid kogumikust „Eesti rahva ennemuistsed jutud“, mis on mänginud olulist rolli eesti rahvakunsti säilitamisel ja populariseerimisel. 19. sajandi lõpus lisas tuntud muistendite ja muinasjuttude koguja šotlane Andrew Lang selle loo oma kuulsasse muinasjutuantoloogiasse pealkirja all „Põhja draakon“.
Director Daniil Zandberg, whose playful, but at the same time original and unusual productions are able to arouse the admiration of even adult viewers with their meticulous design, brings to the audience a stage work belonging to the fantasy genre, which intertwines mythology and folklore. The story centers on the hero facing the North Frog, the embodiment of evil, whose defeat symbolizes overcoming adversity to restore peace and justice.
Folk music motifs and instruments are used in the production, which create a special atmosphere. A wooden bird plays an important role in the production, which is not only exciting for children to watch, but also provides food for thought about life values, courage, wisdom and overcoming difficulties.
The combination of "Northern Frog" music and vivid visuals creates a theatrical wonder that stimulates the imagination of young viewers and remains in their memory for a long time.
Daniil Zandberg is one of the most distinctive visual theater directors in Estonia. His directing script is imaginative, bold and meticulous. In the repertoire of the Russian Theater, you can see, for example, his production based on Chinese fairy tales "The Yellow Stork" on the RING stage or "Three Baba-Jagad" in the big hall.
In Põhja Konnas, Zandberg continues his personal handwriting. You can expect gorgeous spectacle, theatrical mystery, clever humor and certainly inventive acting that will melt the hearts of both young and old viewers.
