Dance house
On April 2nd at 18:00, the Dance House, or a happy traditional dance evening, will be held again in the Rugodiv Chamber Hall of Narva Kultuurimaja with live music.
A pleasant combo of dance, music and the Estonian language is born in cooperation between the House of Estonian Language and Narva Kultuurimaja Rugodiv.
This time, the Karmoškakamraads will play the music. It is a musical group led by Piret Aus, which includes enthusiasts from Seto to Saar.
The collective started in 2018, when Piret Aus started giving karmoška courses at August Pulst's study. To date, nearly 100 karmoška friends have studied under him. Together, they go to Viljandi's Traditional Music Shed, and with performances, the positivity of playing the instrument is shared all over Estonia. Their repertoire ranges from the song "Kodukes" to ABBA, including the music of the Finno-Ugric peoples. Stories are learned by hearing, as is the case with tradition: from master to apprentice. The youngest comrade is already 10 years old today, and the oldest is over 75 years old.
Piret Aus was awarded the title of folk musician of 2024, and Karmoškakamraadid were nominated in the group of the year category. The award is given by the Estonian Folk Dance and Folk Music Society.
The Karmoškakamraads and Martin Tikk demonstrate the dance steps.
Please bring a friendly attitude, comfortable shoes and, if you wish, a bottle of water to refresh yourself between dances.
