Live dialogue: with artist Jekaterina Averko
On April 4, at 5:00 p.m., Rugodiv House of Culture will host a live dialogue with artist Jekaterina Averko, dedicated to her exhibition of author dolls and ceramics.
Jekaterina Averko is an artist and educator from Narva, whose work combines visual arts, sculpture, ceramics and theater. He graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts as a visual arts teacher, worked in the Narva Museum art gallery and currently teaches visual arts and ceramics at Narva Children’s Creative Center.
In 2011, his personal exhibition “All types in pairs” was held in the art gallery of the Narva Museum. In the following years, the artist has actively participated in various exhibitions and projects, and in 2024 a personal exhibition of his author’s dolls was held in the Sillamäe library.
Since 2019, Jekaterina Averko is a co-founder of the NGO ART START, which supports creative initiatives and art education.
In 2012, he was a nominee of the “Teacher of the Year” competition in Narva, and in 2025 he received the award “Best Teacher of Interest Education” in Ida-Virumaa.
The opening of the exhibition of Jekaterina Averko’s author dolls and ceramics will also take place on the same evening.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to a world full of quiet stories and a little magic. In the exposition, two creative directions of the artist meet — expressive author dolls and ceramics fired at high temperatures.
Dolls created from polymer clay and self-hardening clay — portrait, plot and thematic — seem to have their own character and mood. Dreams, curiosity and light thoughtfulness are reflected in their eyes, and every detail and gesture of the costume turns the work into a small story.
Ceramics fired at high temperatures are also on display at the exhibition: small plastics, decorative and functional dishes with vibrant glazes. In these works, you can feel the beauty of fire, earth and the master’s hand — clay that seems to come alive in the artist’s hands.
