Stories of Narva – Denis Björklund
We invite you to the lecture “History of Narva Bastions” on March 20, which will be held as part of the Narva stories series. The lecture will be given by one of Narva’s best-known guides — Denis Björklund.

Denis Björklund — senior guide consultant and the “face” of Victoria Bastion Birch Mats. He has been working on this unique monument for many years, making his profession a real calling. His tours are living stories about the Narva bastions, which are part of the 17th century system of defense structures.
What you will learn at the lecture:
· The role of bastions in the history of Narva. Bastions Victoria, Honor, Gloria, Fortuna and others were built at the end of the 17th century according to Erik Dahlberg’s plan and turned Narva into a powerful fortress city on the border of Sweden and Russia.
· Victoria Bastion Casemates. Unique underground spaces with a special atmosphere. As Denis himself says: “Cold, wet, a bit scary — but incredibly interesting!”
· Restoration and tourism. After the destruction of the Second World War, the restoration of the bastions began in the 1960s. Today, the Victoria Bastion casemates are one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
· Legends and secrets. Real historical events, urban myths and mysteries that make the history of Narva particularly attractive.
This is a new format of meetings in the Rugodiv House of Culture, created so that everyone can get to know the history of their city better, perceive the connection between generations, and become a true patriot of Narva and proudly say: “This is my city – here I was born, grew up and live!”
The evening will be full of nostalgia, warmth and inspiration from Narva – a city that holds thousands of stories and tells each of them in its own way.
The event will be held in Estonian and Russian.
Photo and video recording will take place during the event.
Ticket price: 3.50 euros.
We are waiting for you at the evening of sincere stories in Narva!
