The movie “Our Erika”

Our Erika" tells the heartfelt and captivating story of Estonian Olympic hero Erika Salumäe's journey from an orphanage girl to world records and Olympic gold. The film is directed by German Golub, winner of the student Oscar, and rising star Karolin Jürise plays the title role. According to German Golub, Erika is known as a powerful athlete, politician and person who was welcomed as Estonia's Olympic hero on the Town Hall Square in 1988 – during the awakening, the people felt unity and pride, shouting "Our Erika!" is my way of sharing with the viewer something that is really important to me – humanity – and to give him the opportunity to step into the "shoes" of Erika Salumäe, even for a moment, and thus understand her even better. To understand that behind every hero's great deeds there is a small child who wants to be loved and fight for it to the end."
