Composer Sergei Prokofiev’s famous symphonic fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf” turns 90 this year!
Over the years, this exciting story of a brave schoolboy who captured a wolf has been performed countless times and recorded nearly half a million times in 12 languages around the world. It has been told by actors and rock stars, presidents and conductors.
The secret to the fairy tale’s success lies not only in its exciting plot. By listening to it, you can learn to recognize the sounds of musical instruments that embody the main characters and become familiar with the main sections of a symphony orchestra.
On Sunday, April 26, at the "Rugodiv" Cultural Center, actor Eduard Toman, the Narva Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Anatoli Štšura, and artist Tatjana Sonina will present their original interpretation of Sergei Prokofiev’s fairy tale, in which the characters’ appearance in the music is synchronized with their graphic depiction on screen.
