“Youth time” with artist Vladimir Kopõlov

As part of the «Noorteaja» series, we invite you to a meeting with Vladimir Kopõlov, a creative artist from Narva, who works in a unique author’s style “calligraphy-deconstruction” on May 4. This direction is located at the intersection of visual art, philosophy and formal experiments in writing.

“Calligraphic deconstruction” is an artistic method that reinterprets traditional writing by turning legible signs into abstract visual forms. The viewer is given the opportunity to create meaningful connections, interpret what they see and find personal associations in the works. This approach invites us to look more closely at the details that make up not only the work of art, but also the world around us.

Vladimir Kopõlov’s interest in calligraphy started already in his school years. In 2013, picking up a broad-point pen for the first time, he typed the word «calligraphy» into the search engine and, copying the first spelling that came across, created an interpretation of his first and last name. Since that moment, calligraphy has become an integral part of his creative life. Today, the artist experiments with stars and star shapes on very different surfaces — from architecture and furniture to cars and clothes. In his practice, he uses a wide range of tools: brushes, pens, broad-tipped markers, pencils and other materials.

At the meeting, guests have the opportunity to get to know the artist personally, learn about his creative journey, realized projects and sources of inspiration. Vladimir shares his ideas, views on contemporary art and future plans. Participants will also have a unique opportunity to see the process of creating calligraphy firsthand and ask the author questions of interest.

The meeting is of interest to everyone who is attracted by art, design, visual culture and the search for new forms of self-expression.

The goal of the “Youth Time” project is to introduce young people to their peers who have achieved success in life, to talk about what motivated them, who supported them, and to emphasize that everyone has the opportunity to become a hero of this section.

Photo and video recording will take place at the event.

The event will be held in Russian.

Entrance is free.
