Movement Lab: Weight, Presence, Connection
Instructor: Andrea Aguila
In this two hour workshop we will explore weight, presence and connection through movement.
We work not only on feeling the weight of our body, but we also study how bodies affect each other and how a space of mutual communication and connection is created between us.
How does my body relate to gravity? How can I feel part of the space through the weight of my body? How to find a connection with yourself and other people and create a movement together?
Through movement practices, improvisation and creative group exercises we explore how to listen, support, communicate and co-create.
We start with individual exercises that help focus our attention on our bodies, and gradually move on to space and working with other people.
Previous dance experience is not necessary.
Andrea Aguila is a performance artist from Peru currently studying contemporary dance in Israel. Her educational background includes physical theatre, dance theatre, contemporary dance, improvisation, release technique and other movement research practices.
In his artistic practice, he operates at the intersection of dance and theater. His main interest is the study of movement as an independent phenomenon: how it is affected by gravity, presence, space and the interaction between bodies. For him, the research process becomes the basis of stage composition and performative dramaturgy.
Participation is free and registration is not required.
Please bring comfortable clothes and a change of socks (instead of shoes).
The workshop is intended for participants between the ages of 15 and 50.
