Hahn’s steps

Hahn’s steps were built in the southern part of Narva Dark Garden in 1875 at the initiative of the then Mayor Adolf Hahn, after whom the staircase was named. Originally, the staircase was longer, but during the construction of the new bridge, its first flight was buried underground. Hahn’s steps were restored within the framework of the project “Reconstruction of the Hahn StairsStep by Step” (ER233), and today it connects Dark Garden with the Narva River Promenade. The latest restoration works were completed in 2023. The project was co-financed by the Estonia–EU External Border Programme 2014–2020 with the support of the European Union under the European Neighbourhood Instrument.
