On July 6, 2022, there was made a presentation of the initial version of Narva Cultural Tourism strategy, which is being developed in the framework of the international project named TExTOUR.
The Narva Department for Development and Economy and the operator of the Kreenholm territory Narva Gate OÜ are the partners in the international project aimed at developing cultural tourism in little-known regions of Europe and beyond. The goal of the project is to improve the economic and social situation of 8 pilot regions with a rich cultural and historical heritage through the development of cultural tourism. One of the 8 pilot regions is the city of Narva and specifically the territory of Kreenholm, which is interesting not only as an object of rich industrial heritage, but also as a border area with great potential for development. The strategy is developed by the consulting firm BDA Consulting OÜ. The process of creating a strategy and action plan takes place in close cooperation with the local community, youth organizations, institutions and companies operating in the field of tourism and culture as well as other stakeholders. There were held 3 Workshops with the participation of above mentioned focus groups, at which the goals, priorities and vision of Narva as a cultural and tourist center were determined, examples of “best practices” from other European regions were discussed and those that could be applied in our conditions were selected, action plan and project ideas was developed to be implemented in the near future. During the presentation on 6th July initial version of the strategy was presented to the members of local authorities and stakeholders. Strategy main points and action plan were discussed, some new ideas and suggested added. The final version of Narva Cultural Tourism strategy is going to be finalized by the end of August and published in two languages, Estonian and English.
TExTOUR project will last three and a half years until 06.30.2024. The main partner in the project is the Spanish organization Fundación Santa María la Real. The TExTOUR project received a grant from the EU Horizon 2020 Program. The total project budget for the entire period and for all 17 partners is 3,950,468.75 €.
