We invite you to take a walk in Narva, with at least 15,000 steps guaranteed. We start and finish at Peetri Square.
Start your walk from Peetri plats to Town Hall Square, where the new city square and the renovated town hall await. What an amazing sight! Go along Rüütli Street and walk on the upper promenade. The first photo to be taken is by the fountain, which has a similar predecessor from the mid-19th century. It is the spot where most of Narva's family photos were taken. The next photo is a view of the two fortresses. From there, go down Mayor Hahn's stairs.
Walk north and see what is going on in the harbor. Walk back, enjoy the view of the two fortresses, and go to the Joaoru Recreation Area, where the promenade was extended. Go up to the "five-krone view" observation deck. Probably you know that one side of Estonian 5-krone banknote had Paul Keres and the other two fortresses. This is exactly that view! Admire Estonia's largest churches, the Alexander Church and the Church of Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You have already completed at least 6,000 steps and now it is time for lunch. We recommend Alex Cafe in the building of the former secret military factory "Baltijets".
In the afternoon, take a walk over the pedestrian bridge between Pushkin and Joala streets to Kreenholm. Did you know that one of the first (if not the very first) houses with central heating in Estonia was right here in Kreenholm? And that in 1913 the Narva hospital was already equipped with an elevator? Or that the founder of the Kreenholm Manufactory, Baron von Knoop, is an ancestor of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen? You have two options at the end of Joala Street. Either keep walking to Kulgu harbor and admire the views of the Narva reservoir, the ash mountains, or “Narva Venice,“ or return back to Narva, again over the footbridge. Did you know that in fact, about 100 years ago, Narva and Kreenholm were separate cities?
In Kulgu you will have completed at least 10,000 steps. Congratulations! You can call a taxi to pick you up. If you return directly from Kreenholm to the city, your smart device will show approx. 15,000 steps.
Narva is well worth a visit!
